Automobile oxygen sensor is a kind of sensor based on chemical reaction principle, its working principle can be briefly described as follows:
1. Structure of oxygen sensor: The automobile oxygen sensor usually consists of an oxygen ion conductor, a reference gas chamber and a shell. The oxygen ion conductor is the core component of the sensor, and usually uses zirconia or yttria stabilized oxygen ion electrolyte. The reference gas chamber is used to compare the oxygen content of exhaust gas and ambient air, and the housing is used to protect the sensor.
2. Working principle: When the exhaust gas passes through the oxygen sensor, oxygen ions on the oxygen ion conductor will be conducted on both sides according to the difference of oxygen partial pressure. Inside the sensor, oxygen reacts with oxygen ion conductor, which causes oxygen ions to move inside the conductor.
3. Output signal: This voltage signal will be transmitted to the engine control unit (ECU), and the ECU will adjust the fuel injection quantity according to this signal to maintain the best combustion efficiency and exhaust emission.
