The function of the control arm is to transfer all kinds of forces acting on the wheel to the car body, and at the same time ensure that the wheel moves along a certain track. The control arm connects the wheel and the car body elastically through ball hinges or bushings respectively. In addition, the control arm (including bushings and ball heads connected with it) should have sufficient rigidity, strength and service life.
Suspension system is an important part of modern automobile, which has great influence on the ride comfort and handling stability of automobile.
Control arm (also called swing arm), as the guiding and force transmitting element of automobile suspension system, transmits all kinds of forces acting on wheels to the car body, and ensures the wheels to move along a certain trajectory. The automobile control arm elastically connects the wheel and the car body through ball hinges or bushings respectively. Automobile control arm (including bushing and ball head connected with it) should have sufficient rigidity, strength and service life.
Structure of automobile control arm
1. When the connecting rod of the stabilizer bar is installed in the suspension, one end of the connecting rod of the stabilizer bar is linked with the stabilizer bar through the rubber bushing, and the other end is connected with the control arm or the cylindrical shock absorber through the rubber bushing or ball hinge. The connecting rod of the stabilizer bar is used symmetrically in the selection, which can improve the operation stability.
2. When the tie rod is installed in the suspension, the rubber bushing at one end of the tie rod is connected with the frame or car body, and the rubber bushing at the other end is connected with the hub. This kind of control arm is mostly used in automobile multi-link suspension and tie rod of steering system, which mainly bears lateral load and guides wheel movement.
3. Longitudinal tie rod The longitudinal tie rod is mostly used for drag-and-drop suspension to transmit traction and braking force.
4. Single control arm This kind of automobile control arm is mostly used for multi-link suspension. When two single control arms are used together, they can transmit lateral and longitudinal loads from the wheels.
